I have had the good fortune for the past several years of being immersed in the beauty and history of Prospect Park culminating in the recent publication of Prospect Park, Olmsted and Vaux’s Brooklyn Masterpiece. The book funded by a grant of Furthermore, a program of the J. M. Kaplan Foundation, and the Prospect Park Alliance, showcases more than 100 of my images, additional archival illustrations and text by David P.Colley.
Specializing today in landscape photography, I also have long experience in environmental portraiture for nonproft organizations, universities, park systems, libraries, and hospitals. In addition I have concentrated on travel photography.
My clients have included The University of Pennsylvania, Lehigh University, Lafayette College, The Royal Shakespeare Company and Joseph Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park. My work has appeared in the New York Times Travel, Book Review and Arts and Leisure sections, New York Magazine, Historic Preservation, Business Week and other national and regional publications.
Regardless of the assignment I try to capture and portray the rhythm of life in a public space or work place, college life and villages and cities ranging from the Himalayas to southern China, Italy and South Africa. Emphasizing light and shadow, color and texture, I hope to illuminate the way people view their own surroundings and, perhaps, areas they have never been.
